Currently we are looking for a Market Development Manager for China:
Role
- The Account Manager is the main contact person of Vanbreda’s corporate clients
for all issues regarding the social protection of their internationally mobile employees.
The Account Manager proposes solutions to meet the clients’ needs, and closely monitors
performance of the employee benefit programs assigned to him/her.
- The Account Manager plays an active role in the development and implementation of
Vanbreda’s business model, executing strategic initiatives to enhance Vanbreda’s
market share in its specific niche. The Account Manager approaches prospective
clients with professional advice and works out comprehensive employee benefit solutions for them.
Job Description - Responsibilities
The Account Manager will :
- Assist in developing concrete business opportunities, especially in the Asia-Pacific region
- Carefully examine (prospective) clients’ needs, working out solutions that exactly meet their requirements;
drawing up detailed (standard or tailor-made) contract proposals
- Assist in writing proposals in bidding procedures for major contracts (public tenders)
- Participate in negotiations with corporate clients/prospective clients/insurance companies/
and other business partners
- Prepare and assist in the implementation of employee benefit programs for existing
as well as for new corporate clients
- Engage in “networking”, maintaining useful contacts and developing business relationships with prospective clients / partner companies / service providers / authorities etc.
- Assess existing Vanbreda products and contracts in order to check whether these are still fully in line
with changing market conditions / with competition / with regulations
Propose adjustments whenever required
- Follow up existing contracts, including financial and statistical assessment of the plan results;
Interpret statistical data and write reports for the clients
- Monitor the profitability of the contracts assigned to him/her
- Report to management about the contracts assigned to him/her
- Visit clients (international travel) to provide them with detailed information on the performance of their contract(s) and to discuss whatever issue they feel is important for the management of their plan
To give presentations on the employee benefits program to the corporate clients’ management and/or to the employees covered by the program(s)
- Take care that essential information is passed on in a timely manner to other Vanbreda colleagues/departments that are involved in managing the clients’ contracts
- Follow up full implementation of the contracts assigned to him/her
Qualifications & Experience - Required skills
- Higher education; university degree
- Language skills : fluency in oral and written English and in Chinese
(fluency in written and oral Mandarin and preferably also working knowledge of Cantonese).
Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
- Experience in or knowledge of the insurance industry and of the employee benefits/ health insurance
branch in particular are not required, but are nevertheless considered to be an advantage
- Social skills : the Account Manager should be a social person, i.e. a network builder, who can build and maintain excellent business relationships both inside (i.e. with colleagues) as well as outside (i.e. with clients & business partners) the company
- Commercial and negotiating skills; convincing clients and business partners of the quality
of the proposed solutions / of the products we develop for them
- PC literacy, ability to quickly assimilate company specific computer applications, using these tools to communicate, conduct surveys, perform specific studies, prepare management reports (including detailed data analyses) etc.
- Good analytical skills to assess performance of employee benefit programs and adjust them if necessary
- Ability and willingness to cooperate in a friendly and efficient way with colleagues of the own department
as well as with those working in other departments involved in managing the assigned contracts
- Strong sense of responsibility; acting in a dutiful and timely manner to reach the company’s objectives
- Having the ambition and persistence to deliver work of the highest quality
- Prepared to take initiative and to act in a pro-active manner (e.g. to take the initiative to propose improvements to products and procedures when and where possible)
- Ability to plan and organize business trips ; willingness to travel when required
Accurate and complete follow-up of issues dealt with during business trips.
- Ability to cope with stress ( respecting deadlines for contracts and projects / being able to respond
adequately in unexpected situations, and to provide clients with correct answers whenever required )
