Problem solving, communication issues between suppliers and customers is normally our first introduction to both parties and one in which we have a great deal of success. In China there are many people that can speak both Chinese and English reasonably well, however the majority are students with no life or industry experience making interpreting extremely difficult as they have little or no idea of what is being discussed and even greater difficulty in finding the right Chinese of English word to describe what it is that the client is trying to establish with the supplier or visa-versa. Large manufacturing or export companies have their own English speaking subject matter experts in order to avoid any confusion with English speaking clients. We endeavour to match our interpreter’s experience with the needs of our clients and take responsibility for the professionalism of our interpreters. This does not make them “subject matter experts” however it does ensuring your supplier understands your requirements. Samples and Specifications One of the major problems is that a large number of clients do not have samples of the product they require or detailed specification of their requirements. This of course is the start of poor communications. We work with the client prior to sourcing a manufacturer or product in order to alleviate this problem and establishing the exact needs of our client.
